  • Shura Links will be Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole island golf course with holes overlooking the water
  • Project will have sustainability at its heart, including ensuring minimal water consumption
  • Red Sea Global’s responsible approach to development aligns with PIF’s net zero emissions by 2050 goal

Red Sea Global (RSG), the regenerative tourism destination developer behind The Red Sea and AMAALA, has launched its designs for its golf course and clubhouse on Shura Island at PIF giga-project The Red Sea.

Shura Links is set to be Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole island golf course with holes overlooking the water, marina views and stunning fairways framed by the Red Sea.

Sustainability will be at the core of Shura Links. The course will minimize water consumption through turf grass selection and soil sensors, and there will be cutting-edge irrigation technology in place. Foliar feeding will preserve the turfgrass quality. Moreover, only 20% of the 140-hectare site will be dedicated to maintained turf, ensuring a thriving natural environment.

John Pagano, Group CEO, RSG, said: “Shura Links will provide an unparalleled golfing experience, offering a visually stunning, natural course right here on the Red Sea. As ever, it’s not enough for us to provide spectacular experiences and world-class playing conditions. We are committed to ensuring Shura Links aligns with our ambition to set new sustainability standards. From innovative turf management and careful foliar feeding, we’re putting respect for nature above everything else.”

Red Sea Global’s responsible approach to tourism development aligns with PIF’s own target to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, as well as Saudi Arabia’s net zero emissions goal by 2060.

The par 72 course has been created in collaboration with notable golf architect Brian Curley, the designer of the world’s largest golf facility, Mission Hills Golf Club, while the clubhouse is designed by sustainability-focused global studio Foster + Partners.

In 2023, The Red Sea welcomed its first guests, with three of its hotels now operational.
