PIF-owned Riyadh Air – the recently established national carrier that will connect the Saudi capital to more than 100 destinations globally – is ready to become the next big thing in the aviation sector, reported Al Arabiya.
Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, gave an interview with the Arabic news channel, in which he detailed how the new airline aims to become a thought leader in the aviation industry, with a strong focus on sustainability and technology.
The airline, which recently announced an order for up to 72 Boeing 787-Dreamliners, is set to usher in a new era for the global travel and aviation industry.
Aligned with PIF’s mandate to unlock key sectors and drive the diversification of the Saudi economy, Riyadh Air also supports the Vision 2030 goal to attract 100 million visitors a year by the end of the decade.
Riyadh Air will start operating flights in 2025. The airline is expected to add $20 billion to Saudi Arabia’s non-oil GDP growth, and create more than 200,000 direct and indirect domestic jobs.
