- Global consultancy and member of the SNC-Lavalin Group is awarded a five-year contract
- “We are committed to helping governments and the private sector meet their net zero targets,” says CEO of SNC-Lavalin

The PIF-owned giga-project NEOM has appointed Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, as a delivery partner for THE LINE linear urban development.
THE LINE puts humans first while preserving the surrounding nature – it will have no roads, cars or carbon emissions while 95% of the surrounding NEOM region will be protected for conservation. At 170 kilometers long and 200 meters wide, the revolutionary city will eventually accommodate 9 million people, and be built on a footprint of just 34 square kilometers.
Atkins has been awarded a five-year contract under a framework agreement for consultancy services on THE LINE. It will work with NEOM and other delivery partner organizations to offer project and construction management consultancy services for the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the project, along with the management of the critical interfaces that THE LINE shares with other NEOM activities and logistics.
Ian L. Edwards, President and CEO of SNC-Lavalin, said: “With a vision for engineering a sustainable society, SNC-Lavalin is committed to helping governments and the private sector meet their net zero targets by providing our global expertise and world-class sustainability solutions.”
Philip Hoare, President, Engineering Services, Canada, UK & Europe, Middle East and India at SNC-Lavalin, said: “THE LINE is a truly ground-breaking, world-first project and we are proud to have the opportunity to bring our global engineering, digital and net zero expertise to help create a lasting legacy for the Kingdom and its people.”
The agreement aligns with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s economic reform blueprint, which has sustainability embedded in its approach, as well as the country’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2060.
As a catalyst for the national strategy, PIF is investing in future technologies to set new standards in urban living, spur tourism and create diverse job opportunities.
